Joost van der Vecht insp Side Cabinet

Inspired by the Japanese series, Joost van der Vecht designed Frame in 2006. This walnut veneered Side Cabinet has become a timeless piece in the design world. A minimalist cabinet with a “frame” resting on a thin base, Joost van der Vecht Side Cabinet emphasizes its horizontal shape with thin handles. Side Cabinet was inspired by Cees Braakman’s famous U+N cabinets.

Joost van der Vecht began his career as a product designer at Arnold Merckx Design in 1996. Here he designed for a variety of renowned European design brands, including Dutch label Pastoe. He later became art director at Pastoe, working closely with designers and architects such as Naoto Fukasawa, Maarten van Severen and Vincent van Duysen. In 2013 he began collaborating with various Dutch labels such as Not Only White, Loof, Occony and Arco in his own studio. Joost has an intuitive sense of aesthetics and a flair for the right proportions. He always manages to find the essence in form and material, very naturally. He combines his technical knowledge and his years of experience to create functional, timeless and harmonious objects.
