Product Description
Designed by the famous Danish designer Poul Kjærholm in 1956, the PK61 Coffee Table is one of the purest and most minimalist examples of modern furniture design. Its square-shaped aesthetic design reflects Kjærholm’s evolution from industrial designer to furniture architect. Four stainless steel legs are connected with industrial screws, giving the table its unique appearance. The top surface is held in place by the principle of gravity, one of the elements Kjærholm frequently uses in his designs.

Poul Kjærholm was born in Denmark in 1929 and began his career as an apprentice carpenter. He studied at the Danish School of Applied Arts in Copenhagen in 1952. His minimalist design philosophy is reflected in the PK61 Coffee Table, designed in 1956. Kjærholm is known for his interest in the aesthetic potential of steel and he has used this material masterfully in the PK61. The coffee table was first produced by Ejvind Kold Christensen and has been produced by Fritz Hansen since 1982.
